The ancient name of Bozukkale is”Loryma”
Bozukkale is located south of the Bozburun peninsula with amazing panoramic views over the area. On a clear day you will be able to see Rhodes, which is 12 miles away. Bozukkale means “broken castle”. This large, sheltered bay is easily identified by the ancient citadel on the western headland as you approach.
This bay is perfect for a relaxing afternoon swimming, windsurfing or snorkelling. There are several restaurants to choose from where you will have an enjoyable evening away from it all.
Please Note: We do not recommend mooring overnight unless on a restaurant jetty due to poor holding.
Another of our very favourite overnight stops. Bozukkale is such a dramatic and huge bay that cannot fail to impress.
We visited Sailors House in June 2017 and loved every minute from when we stepped off the boat. Mustafa was proud to show us the new terrace over the water that he had built over the winter period, a very cool place to have supper. The tour continued with the toilet & shower block with solar powered hot water and small carpet shop! Lastly he took us to see the hard work that had gone into developing his own vegetable garden.
After the tour we dived into the crystal clear waters which provided a very refreshing swim!! We watched the sun go down from our yacht and joined the other guests for dinner on the terrace. As Mustafa has been inviting us for the last 10 years he was ready to treat us to a feast: delicious crayfish followed by freshly caught Sea Bass served with salad from his garden. An absolute treat!
Mustafa is a fantastic Host and every client who visits this restaurant raves about the experience. They love the bay & rustic facilities. they particularly enjoy the food & service offered by Mustafa and his staff. You will receive a warm welcome and helping hands on the dock with lazy lines for easy mooring. A wonderful place for a swim and snorkel in a huge open bay.
Bozukkale is a secluded bay with no road connection so is still peaceful and natural today. We have capacity for 20 yachts on our jetty with lazy lines and mooring service and a nice beach in front. We offer boat service to take you to the beaches and secluded areas around Bozukkale.
Bozukkale was an ancient navy base and city from the Carians, who ruled the area 700-300 BC. They controlled the passage between East and west Mediterranean therefore this huge castle was built. The 2500 year old ancient Carian castle is half hour walk from our restaurant. We can point you in the right direction to see the abandoned Greek village Karamaka. Carian trail is Turkeys longest hiking Trail with 800 km signed way.
The favourites on our menu for our guests include: lamb cooked in the oven, grilled octopus and daily fresh fish, caught locally. All of our food is prepared fresh to order by our cook. We have our own vegetable garden at the back of the restaurant which is also used in our kitchen. As this is a family business, my Mom cooks fresh bread every day.
We use solar panels for natural energy, offer hot water showers and toilets to our guests. In our restaurant we have internet and TV. We have a souvenir shop selling hand made carpets and local made products.
