Mark, Stef & the team worked hard & got us away early & taking their advice we headed for Ciflik. We arrived at dusk in the middle of the Marmaris International Yacht Club Loryma Cup Regatta Fleet. Last pontoon berth at Azmak Restaurant & a table which meant we photo bombed the prize giving photos alas no cup for us. The sail as the sun was going down gave Ali the opportunity to cast shadows on the jib. the best being a great image of Popeye. Dan got up in time to see a spectacular sun rise & after resting on a sun bed Ali became Mother Duck, followed the foreshore by 3 feathered friends.
Off to Sogut through the just laid start line OCS! Into a head wind we ere joined by a single dolphin which was a great delight to Evie who wanted to swim with turtles. Stop for lunch with Sogut in the far distance and moored up at Captains Table for dinner.
Awoke to a donkey neighing, goats being herded and the restaurant gutting freshly caught squid. Off to Selimiye. Telephoned the Aurora ahead. This proves essential not for the lack of berths (yachts being turned away even though 4 or 5 still available) but for lack of tables in the restaurant. More expensive but well worth it. We had stopped in Dirsek Bay for lunchtime swim & rewarded by ice-cream boat from local restaurant.
Later leaving Selimiye – could not get the girls out of the lovely shops! Off to Serce Limani and the Captain Nemo Experience!! We managed to get a berth on the main pontoon in front of the restaurant but a yacht was already aground to the west of the pontoon, so keep within the lines directly south of either end of the pontoon. Recommend that you eat early there. Not many staff and some of the later crews to eat were clearly not happy with the service. Quality of food was good & if we raised the expectation that the crew of Pelagos always get up to dance then we apologies to those who follow!
Little wind, motorsailed home to Marmaris. A quiet end to an outstanding 5 days on Pelagos.
