Testimonial - Sun Odyssey 45.2 Windwhistle

July 2010

Arrived in Marmaris late to find Mark and Stef waiting for us, beds made up, all provisioning safely stored and a fab welcome.

Decided on West coast and so pleased we did, took note of ports of call Mark had mentioned, not only did it make a change for us from East coast but the difference in culture.  Stopped in Kumlubuku, service 5*, food good but pricey: down to Serce Limani and Captain Nemos, great fun, good food, very helpful; slow pace to Sogut, great for everything, amazing showers, lovely food, generally very good; next stop Selimiye Aurora Restaurant, lovely , big welcome, enjoyable stay (jetty charge of 20TL); Lovely sail towards Bozburun, but decided to give it a miss and sail more as wind good; back to Sogut for the evening; amazing sail from Sogut to Bozzukale, lots of wind and speed, docked at Loryma restaurant, very helpful, greeted us with olives, Turkish tea, bread and cheese, you need to set a price before you eat or at least check the bill, no facilities, lovely bay.  Last full day big swell, never really managed to set a good sail, came into Ciflik early, big flotilla then arrived!!!  Bit too busy for us but we enjoyed the whole holiday.

To Stef & Mark - Thank you so much for all your help from 1st email to arrangeing our transfer home.  We are left in no doubt that we will return soon.  Windwhistle was like a home to us, we loved her.  Nicky.

Loved this holiday, it was such an experience and a great getaway!  Very relaxing but also loads of fun! Windwhistle is beautiful and sailed us to so many lovely desinations.  Overall had a fantastic holiday and formed a new love- sailing.  Charlie

Now I remember what I've been missing the last 4 years, will be back soon.  Dave

Had such a great time on the Windwhistle.  We had great fun aboard.  I enjoyed finding new destinations and hope to return to teh welcoming natives.  Loved every minute.  Abi

Annual pilgrimage to Turkey by the Browns, Keechs & Bennetts

Arrived in Bodrum on a Pegasus flight to find our transport already waiting - arrived in Marmaris in time for dinner at the 'Pineapple'.  We had earlier decided to visit the places to the West of Marmaris including the Greek Islands.  The weather & winds were very kind to us and allowed for a very relaxed cruise.

Itinerary: Marmaris - Serce Limani - Dirsek - Ova Buku (2 nights) - Simi - Tilos (2 nights) - Bozburun - Selimiye - Paradise Bay - Loryma - Kumlubuku - Marmaris

Top restaurant was Aurora in Selimiye (telephone ahead to book a table & mooring on the restaurant quay).  Windwhistle looked after the 6 of us very comfortably.  there were no problems with any of the equipement.  The spaciousness of the large cockpit being a special bonus.  This is the first time we have had a boat with a sprayhood which was appreciated as we approached Serce!

Special thanks to Stef & Mark for their very special care and attention to details to make this another holiday to remember.  John, Jenny, Alan, Delia, Ivan & Diane.

A family of five with 3 boys had a great time in Turkey.

Windwhistle is a well mannered spacious boat and meticulously maintained, a joy under sail and quick under engine.  Everything worked well and we had no difficulties with the boat whatsoever.

The places we visited were special each in their own way and we always found something new.  Kumlubuku offers the finest Chinese meals although the service is very relaxed.  Ciflik, around the corner is only a few miles away, Alarga Yacht Club, is a quiet luxurious resort.  It lies on the most Southern side of the bay and has a nice swimming pool and a sauna if the sun is not enough for you!  At Bozukkale there was a most impressive night sky and it must have been the first time the boys had seen the Milky Way.  From there we sailed to Bozburun, where they served the best iced coffee.  We continued to Orhaniye and ate at the Mistral Restaurant - the prices are high but the food was delicious.  They also have a salt water pool and a shop in the marina to stock up on provisions.  We visited Mesudiye further west where we ate at Oguns place, a known favourite of Marks.  The boys wanted to return to Bozukkale and Ciflik, after another couple of wonderful days there we made our way back to Marmaris.

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.  Stef & Mark are a great team and the service they provided was always spot on and exceeded our expectations.  Next time we will try to come for three weeks as two are definitely too short.

Best wishes, Kersten, Bettice, Nikolaus, Maximillian & Ben

8th - 15th June 2009

Arrived from Dalaman - Stef's transfer arrangements were spot on - & lovely to be welcomed onto the pontoon at Windwhistle and to find everything was already done for us: beds made up, provisions on board, fridge cooled down, etc., etc.  Attention to details like this make all the difference.

We spent a day in Marmaris, enjoying exploring and eating at Neighbours Restaurant on the quay, to be thoroughly recommended - excellent food & very reasonable prices.  Mark & Stef saw us off on our way West - starting with a stopover at Serce Limani, winds were light and we were delighted that Windwhistle's bimini & sprayhood gave us all good cover from the very hot sun!  Serce is a lovely stop - we took a mooring buoy in the north end of the bay & ate ashore that evening at Captain Nemo's restaurant.  Nemo himself is a great laugh but we found his prices high. Next stop, after quite a bit of motoring was Orhaniye, anchoring behind the island in a lovely spot.  Our third night we spent alongside in Bozburun (30YTL for mooring, electric & water)  this is a lovely spot and well worth spending some time to walk along the waterfront.

Our last night was in the remote bay of Gerbeske, we arrived and took 2 lines ashore.  All the day trip gullets had left so we had a very peaceful anchorage until lunch time the following day when the day trippers returned!  a great spot though. Back then to Netsel, showers and luxury!!  Windwhistle has been a joy to be on. We could have had more wind during the week but thoroughly enjoyed visiting some really lovely, contrasting places.  Mark & Stef's hospitality has been great & we hope others enjoy sailing these waters as much as we have on this lovely yacht.

Thanks Bryan, Jane & Robert

May 2009

Chartered for the week of 18th May 2009 - Six Welsh Boys - Great laugh - Fair winds and reasonable weather - Stef & Mark great couple.

Cruising notes: Got to go to the mud baths at Dalyan River - we hied our own boat for a 5 hour trip at 275TL total. Datca Harbour - not worth the 45TL mooring fee.  Nice ruined fort at Loryma but be careful of the prices at the local restaurants.  Bozburun - very noce.

Overall: A cracking week and best of luck to Stef & Mark for the future.

May 2009

We enjoyed yachting on Windwhistle.  We had a 7 day vacations on this boat.  Most of all we were inpressed by Dirsek Bay, there we trained for anchoring.  Ancient towns of Caunos are perfect, recommend to see it!

Enjoy your trip!  Vladimir, Andrey, Polina, Anna, Yulia, Vera & Sergey. (Russia)

September 2008

Had a wonderful three days aboard Windwhistle.  Unfortunately no wind for two days but finally on the morning of departure picked up some wonderful air.  Moored overnight on day one and three at Kumlubuku.  Second night at Ekincik where we ran into a storm, for novice sailors a little noisy but we weathered it well.  Terrific boat!

July 2008

We decided to travel East for our 7 day charter.  The yacht, Windwhistle, was well equipped.  Everything we needed was on board and the new bimini was perfect.  We brought along our own gear for the children

Our route: Kumlubuku - Boynuz Buku - Karacaoren (2 nights , great for snorkelling, funny, charming restaurant, hiking on rocks, fishing) - Gocek - Deep Bay - Ekincik - Marmaris.

It was clalm in the mornings, wind picked up everyday around 12:00.  We sailed afternoons. 20-28 knots, great fun.

June 2008

We left Marmaris Habour, initial destination to Datca which later changed to Selimiye Bay.  Change was due to having fun from sailing itself rather than going to a certain point.  First day stop was Ciflik, mooring at Deniz Restaurant, food prices/quality was excellent, so good that our second day ended in Ciflik also.   Third stop Bozukkale, we had our best fun lying off to the right of the bay all alone away from other boats already in the bay with a lovely view of the castle.  Next stop Selimiye, Sardinya restaurant, already famous because of high population of visitors.  Food excellent, people very helpful, of course deserved another night stop after the first.  One the way round we have seen Bencik and Kizkulu a must see bays in Hisaronu.  One long day back took us to Ciflik for the last night.

Boat is very good for 5 people: oversized and over relaxed.  Sail performance excellent for a wider boat (from what we are accustomed to).  Overall it was a very good week for all of us and a good performance from Windwhistle.

Boran, Ahmet (Captain), Aldin, Seymour. (Turkey)
