SAILING HOLIDAY FEEDBACK

26 September - 7 October 2009

Fantastic holiday, lots of lovely bays to se & stay. 8 of us on boat all friends by the end of the holiday!

The best drink, food, sunshine & wind, lovely company. Jonty sailed perfectly, like a dream.

See you in 2010. John & Jane

September 14 - 28, 2009

Annual pilgrimage to Turkey by the Browns, Keechs & Bennetts.

marmaris.jpgArrived early in Bodrum on a Pegasus flight to find our transport already waiting. Arrived in Marmaris in time for dinner at the Pinaapple Restaurant. We had earlier decided to visit the places West of Marmaris including the Greek Islands. The weather and winds were very kind to us and allowed for a very relaxed cruise. Itinerary: Serce - Dirsek - Ova Buku, 2 nights - Tilos, 2 nights - Simi - Selimiye - Paradise Bay - Loryma. Top restaurant was Aurora in Selimiye ( we used the telephone supplied to us to call ahead to book a table and mooring on the restaurant quay). Windwhistle looked after the 6 of us very comfortably. There were no problems with the equipment. The spaciousness of the large cockpit being a special bonus. This is the first time we have had a boat with a sprayhood which was appreciated as we approached Serce!

Special thanks to Stef and Mark for their very special care and attention to all the details to make this another holiday to remember.

John & Jenny, Alan & Delia, Diane & Ivan.

September 2009

We have a great holiday on 'Horizon'. Enjoying one week of lovely Turkish scenery, good weather and delicious food. Thanks to the good recommendations of Stef & Mark and their outstanding service, we had one of the best weeks this year.

Many thanks and best wishes, Volker & Tina, Marita & Matti, (Germany)

We had a lovely time on Little Gem, she really lived up to her name, performing very well under sail. This is a lovely part of the world and we hope to return one day soon.

08 August 09 - 22 August 09

A family of five with 3 boys had a great time in Turkey. Windwhistle is a well mannered spacious boat and meticulously maintained, a joy under sail and quick under engine. Everyting worked well and we had no difficulties with the boat whatsoever. The places we visited were special in their own way and we always found something new.

Ciftlik.jpgKumlubuku offers the finest Chinese meals, Ciftlik Limani around the corner is an empty luxurious resort, it lies on the most Southern side of the bay and has a nice swimming pool and a sauna if the baking sun is not enough for you. At Bozzukale there was a most impressive night sky and it must have been the first time the boys had seen the Milky Way. From there we sailed on to Bozburun and then to Orhaniye where the boys had a great time snorkelling and feeding swarms of fish. The prices at the Mistral Restaurant are slightly on the high side but teh food is very good. There is also a sea water swimming pool and a shop to stock up with provisions. We sailed on to Mesudiye, further west where we ate at Ogun's restaurant which is a great place and one of our favourites. The boysdecided they wanted to return to Bozzukale and Ciflik before sailing back to Marmaris.

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Stef and Mark are a great team and teh service they provided was always spot on and exceeded our expectations. Next time we will try to come for three weeks are two are definitely too short.

Very sad that we are leaving after such a great holiday. Little Gem has been perfect, treating us to some exciting sailing. Your recommendations were great and we enjoyed many of the little bays.  Hope to return next year!!

8th - 15th June 09

bimini.jpgArrived at Dalaman - Stef's transfer arrangements were spot on and lovely to be welcomed onto the pontoon at Windwhistle and to find everything was already done for us; beds made up, provisions on board, fridge cooled down, etc, etc.. Attention and details like this make all the difference!

We spent a day in Marmaris, enjoying exploring and eating at Neighbours' Restaurant on the town quay. To be thoroughly recommended - excellent food & very reasonable prices (about 60TL for 3 people). It was full of locals & the other restaurants were quiet which says something!

Mark & Stef saw us off on our way West - starting with a stopover at Serce Limani, winds were light and we were delighted that Windwhistle's bimini & sprayhood gave us all good cover from the very hot sun! Serce is a lovely stop - we took a mooring buoy in the north end of the bay & ate ashore that evening at Captain Nemo's Restaurant which, it has to be said, was disappointing. Nemo himself is a great laugh but his prices are high & facilities basic. Anyone eating there should negotiate prices before ordering. (Moorings were foc if you eat ashore)

Next stop, after quite a bit of motoring was Orhaniye - anchoring in, behind the Island & fort in a lovely spot. Only a very brief stop at the marina to drop some rubbish but we were amused to watch a pelican drinking water from a hosepipe on the pontoon!

The third night was spent alongside the town quay in Bozburun (30TL for water, electric & overnight stay). This is a lovely spot & well worth spending some time to walk along the waterfront. Very helpful supermarkets (the one on the harbour is more expensive than the one we found further into town) & a good choice of restaurants. We had an excellent meal at Osman's 'Garden Restaurant' - and used his showers & internet connections too. Another place we would thoroughly recommend.

Our last night was in  the remote bay of 'Byzantine Bay' below Ciftlik. We arrived late & took two lines ashore. All the day gullets had left so we had a very peaceful anchorage - until lunchtime the next day when the day trippers were back - the lesson here is arrive late and leave once the crowds arrive!!  A great spot though.

Back then to Netsel - showers and luxury! Windwhistle has been a joy to be on. We could have had more wind during the week but thoroughly enjoyed visiting some really lovely, contrasting places. Mark & Stef's hospitality has been great & we hope others enjoy sailing these waters as much as we have on this lovely yacht.

2nd June to 9th June 2009

Excellent week of sailing, swimming, eating, drinking and exploring. Great suggestions for the ports of call. weather and wind have been very kind to us and we made 10+ knots on 3 separate passages. We thought the arrangements through Steph and Mark were exceptional and will recommend this to any friends contemplating a similar charter.

June 2009

boat.jpgA well organised bareboat charter from the time we first contacted Stef & Mark. Relevant & sensible advice about area and the boat. Easy going attitude but responsible - What more could you want? Lots of variety - winds calm to gusting F7 - different berthing methods, some with help, some without. Excellent week of fun, laughter & good sailing in a beautiful area. Many thanks Stef & Mark.

May 2009

Fantastic 3 weeks on Jonty. We had our 2 grandchildren on board for the first time and they loved it! We sailed West to Serce, then to Paradise Bay, next to Bozburun. In the bay of Bozburun we had a school of dolphins all around the boat, magical. We continued to Bozuk Buku and then to Ciflik only a couple of hours from Marmaris. Jonty sailed beautifully as we knew she would, Stef & Mark have really kept up the standard as only an experienced and motivated small charter company can. We look forward to coming back later in 2009.

John & Jane (Owners Jonty)

May 2009

Chartered for the week of 18th May 2009. - Six Welsh Boys - Great laugh - Fair winds & reasonable weather - Stef & Mark great couple.

Crusing Notes: Got to go to the mud baths at the Dalyan River - we hired our own boat for a 5 hour trip at 275TL total. Datca Harbour - not worth the 45 TL mooring fee. Nice ruined fort at Loryma but be careful of the prices at the local restaurants. Bozburun - very nice.

Overall: A cracking week and best of luck to Stef & Mark for the future.

family.jpgOur first visit to Jomty and Marmaris and they both came up trumps. Jonty is an excellent family boatand accomodated 4 adults & 2 young children easily, even our Phil & Ted double buggy! Our children have been amazing even at the ages of 2 & 4. Visited several bays & enjoyed the good winds & weather. Stef & Mark have been very accomodating & we look forward to seeing you next year.

May 2009

We enjoyed yachting on Windwhsitle. We had 7 day of vacations on this boat. Most of all we were impressed by Dirsek bay, there we trained for anchoring. Ancient Greek towns Knidos and Caunos are perfect, recommend to see it!

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you, we had a great sailing time. Sailing good for me, a first time sailor. We got a tan, weather was so good, sailed 144 miles and had some great nights out. Zoe & Alan (UK)

As always had a lovely time on our yacht sailing around the coast of Turkey. Great company. Good food. Hospitality of the Turksh people was excellent. Jonty handled well, speed of 8.2 knots with wind speeds upto 22 knots. Many thanks to Stef & Mark. Best wishes to past & future sailors. Jane & John (UK)

Great weather, good company, visited all the little coves, fresh fish every night - a must for all ages. Boat handled like a dream. We will be out again on Jonty next year. Gary & Carol (UK)

1st October 2009

turkey.jpgOur last day of a two week holiday on Jonty. This year we covered over 300 miles and were blessed with good weather and enjoyed great sailing. Very special thanks to our hostess Stef whose quick thinking when Excel Airways went bust the day before we were booked to fly out, saved the holiday for us. An early phone call enabled us to re-book our flights within the hour - fantastic service! We very much look forward to coming to Turkey again to sail 'The Turquoise Coast'

Many thanks John & Jenny Bennet (UK)

We endorse everything said above - without Steph's early warning our holiday would not have taken place. Both Steph and Mark have worked hard to ensure that the boat, our itinerary and our 2 weeks were perfect.

Many, many thanks Delia and Alan Keeck (UK)

September 2008

Had a wonderful three days aboard the Windwhistle. Unfortunately no wind for two days but finally on the morning of departure picked up some wonderful air. Moored overnight on day one and three at Kumlubuku. Second night at Ekincik where we ran into a storm. For novice sailors a little noisy but we weathered it well. Terrific boat!

Many thanks for your help and hostess during our first time chartering a sailing boat. In Germany we own a motor boat and now we are sure to change and become sailors... Be sure that we will come back again. We think there is no better place and company to start chartering. Big compliments to you!

Best Regards Volker and Tina (Germany)

September 2008

Thank you for the use of 'Gut Instinct' - a lovely boat - nice to drive and to love/live in! This was our wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday present, as a change from sailing boats, so next week on a Cat should be an interesting comparison. We'll let you know how we get on - good luck with your business - you could not have been more helpful.

David & Kathy (UK)

September 2008

netsel.jpgJust to say ' thank you' for a great charter this September. You were an excellent company to deal with - very friendly and efficient in dealing with all our requests and questions, and providing wonderful service throughout the charter period (including the midnight arrival!) 'Horizon' was a well presented boat, and she had everything that we needed for a memorable week, giving us good cruising on a lovely coastline. We'll be back, to go eastwards next time.

Many thanks again, Jennie (UK)

September 2008

I've been chartering for many years but never had such a nice and personal contact as I have had with Mark and Stef. The first but not only reason to come back soon:) It was 'smashing' as Stef would say!

netsel2.jpgFrom the moment we arrived at Netsel we could not have asked for more. Excellent hospitality. Jonty performed great in light & strange winds & in a big swell on a long trip back from Gocek. Sailed Amos, Ekincik, Gocek Bay & back to Marmaris. Found great village restaurants in Gocek Bay, recommend the fresh baked bread in the morning. Will certainly back again, through Sail in Turkey, next year we will have to see 'in shalla'. We will strongly recommend to friends.

Carl & Sebnam (UK/Turkey)

It was really fun when we got to take out the boat. We went to a really nice bay on the first day. On the other days we went to Dalyan to see the turtles. We also went to Cleopatras bay and we made a friend. This was probably the best boat trip I have ever been on.

July 2008

We decided to travel East for our 7 day charter. The yacht, Windwhistle was well equipped. Everything we needed was on board and the new bimini was perfect. We brought along a lot of our own gear for our 3 children. Our Route: Kumlbuku, Boynuz Buku, Karacaoren (2 nights - great for; snorkeling, water skiing, funny, charming restaurant, hiking on rocks, fishing), Gocek, Deep Bay, Ekincik, Marmaris. It was calm in the mornings, wind picked up everyday around 12. We sailed in afternoons, 20-28 knots, great fun.

July 2008

A NOTE FROM JOHN (Wales): We went East to Cold Water Bay - Very good :), we went West to Datca - also good. Support from Sail in Turkey - Excellent. Best Bay: Cold Water Bay, Best Meal: Ekincik, Best Port: Datca, Best Showers: Port Gocek. People so friendly. A must is Crazy Bob @ (Hassan) Serci Limani.

especially.jpgA NOTE FROM CATHERINE (Wales): We all really enjoyed our two weeks in Turkey - the Turkish people are the most (genuinely) friendly people I've ever met. We enjoyed our time at each bay (especially Ekincik) and would not hesitate to return to Turkey in the future or use Sail in Turkey in the future. Thanks for the use of your yacht.

A NOTE FROM LIZ (England): This was my first visit to Turkey, I have been pleasantly suprised. My first choice for sailing was Greece, but I have so enjoyed the country and people that my views are that Turkey is the country to sail in. Stef and Mark great 'agents', nothing too much trouble.

A NOTE FROM RHYS (Wales): Superb holiday! Turkey threw up many pleasant suprises especially the scenery, the people and the great food. Stef & Mark @SailinTurkey offer such a great service that you really are able to forget your worries and just enjoy your holiday. A thoroughly enjoyable 2 weeks & would all definitely return
